Other Notes
- Use events for samples to keep them aligned better:
- Create an empty event before the sample (
OPT+CLICK) and glue (4) the sample with it
- Create an empty event before the sample (
- Same issue in Logic with reversing/editing files - unless you bounce an audio file, you will modify all instances of it
- Different track types (right click the track area to see them)
- Use arranger track to quickly jump between sections to test ideas out
- Automation
- Use -control- key to only change horizontal position but not vertical/value
- Use
OPTto draw freehand automation - There is a button on the top to set whether Automation Follows Events (there is no prompt like in Logic as to whether or not to copy automation)
- To add space in the project, e.g. in the beginning, use
CTRL+SHIFT+Eafter selecting a section of that width: If the project starts on bar 1, to add 1 bar of space before, select from 1-2.
Render in Place
- (Freeze: unload effects and replace entire track with audio vs midi)
- Dry (Transfer Channel Settings) will ‘bounce’ an audio file, and copy the channel strip settings (e.g. EQ) to the new track
- Channel Settings: bounce the audio applying the settings from the track
- Complete Signal Path: bounce the audio including track settings as well as sends
- Complete Signal Path + Master FX: track settings, sends, and master bus
- Tail Mode: whether or not to include reverb or delay type effects
- Mode:
- Separate Event: would follow midi, and create separate audio files for each clip/section
- Single Event: merge the entire selection into a single audio file
Direct Offline Processing
- Allows applying effects directly to an audio file in real-time
- This is similar to the audio editor in Logic, where you can reverse, change gain, etc. This exists in the context menu for an Audio clip in Cubase as well, so not an exact 1:1 comparison
Channel Strip
Is there any benefit to using the channel strip ‘modules’ vs. external plugins (equalizer, compressor), or is it just preference?
